My way of avoiding the Aden Emergency. I would have not merged the Aden Colony, Federation of South Arabia and Protectorate of South Arabia. Aden Colony would have doubled in size and have absorbed Aqrabi. All 3 states would be prepared for independence as separate nations: Aden Colony in 1968, Federation of South Arabia in 1967 and Protectorate of South Arabia in 1970. It might disrupt the rise of communism, spread Arab nationalism\Naserisum in the former colonies and help FLOSY to stop the FLN getting the entire territory.
