The event[]
Georgi Ivanov Markov was a Bulgarian dissident writer who was killed in London during 1978, 9 years after he had defected, with a an umbrella wielded by someone associated with the the Komitet za dǎržavna sigurnost (CSS) (the Bulgarian secret police). It was an umbrella with a hidden pneumatic mechanism which injected a small ricin-filled pellet in to the inteded victim when they are prodded with it. The pellet was a small 1.52mm platinum pellet with two small holes drilled through it.
