It is bordered by the Czech Republic and Germany to the north, Hungary and Slovakia to the east (Czechoslovakia at the time of the Wiki's coverage), Slovenia (then part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) and Italy to the south, and Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the west.
