The term[]

A Coup d'état (AKA: Coup) is the illegal and\or violent seizure of power from a legitimate government. Due to the military's doctrine, they are the most like to stage coup and will generally be the most horrific human rights abusers and the most repressive of regimes when in office.

A counter coup is a coup that overthrows the regime put in power by an earlier coup.

Examples[]

Some nations like Chile, Haiti, Burkina Faso and Greece, for example, are always having coups and coup plots going on in them.

  3. September 17, 2015: The presidential guard headed by Gilbert Diendéré overthrows Interim President Michel Kafando, one month before elections are due in the nation. However, the coup collapses one week later and Kafando is reinstalled.
  4. October 8, 2016: Blaise Compaore loyalists and former presidential guards failed to overthrow President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré
