Exercise[]
Northern Viking is an annual NATO exercise held in Iceland. The exercises were held biannually until 2006 when the frequency was increased to annualy. A anti-terrorist exercise, air defence exercise and a maritime defence exercise.
It is run by the Icelandic MFA Office of Defence, the United States European Command (EUCOM), Icelandic Coast Guard and the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE).
It was aimed at planning on how to thwart the planned Soviet invasion of Iceland after Soviet's occupation of northern Norway.
Duration[]
It is only for a few days, but it's precise time unknown to me.
