The aleged scandalEdit

Francois Fillon was found to have accepted €12,000 worth of suits from his supporters and benefactors in 2017 prior to the French Election.

Francois Fillon, was hit by further claims about his probity. The claime was that a mystery benefactor had paid for nearly €50,000 worth of suits for him in a chic Left Bank shop.

The conservative presidential candidate had reportedly received clothes worth €48,500 (£43,000) from made-to-measure clothing outlet Arnys since 2012, according to the French Journal du Dimanche.

Of those, €35,500 was paid in cash, to a store on Rue de Sèvres, the weekly newspaper further alleged.
