The local airport is separate from the larger military Kamina Air Base (ICAO: FZSA). The civil airport is sometimes called Kaminaville or Kamina Ville to differentiate it from the military airbase. Swedish UN peacekeepers ued it at one point in the 1963 Congo Crisis.
