Klaipėda district municipality (Lithuanian: Klaipėdos rajono savivaldybė) is one of 60 municipalities in Lithuania and surrounds the port city of Klaipėda and the Port of Klaipėda. Thew population was 46,200 in 2001. Lithuanian Christian Democrats won the local elections. Most of the Jews and Poles died here during the Holocaust. The occupying Soviets persecuted the local Kursenieki until the 1960's.
