Puerto Rico is an organized, unincorporated territory (insular area) of the United States. Puerto Rico is situated right next to the United States Virgin Islands.
The inhabitants of Puerto Rico are considered U.S. citizens, however, cannot vote in presidential elections. Puerto Rico has their National Guard, both Army and Air. Puerto Ricans served in the Korean War as part of the U.S. Army's 65th Infantry Regiment.
Puerto Rico used to host the Roosevelt Roads Naval Station of the U.S. Navy, which recently closed in 2004 but has seen other uses by the U.S. military.
