It is in the commune of Saint-Laurent-Nouan in Loir-et-Cher on the Loire River near Blois and Orléans.

The 1969 accidentEdit

50 kg of uranium in one of the gas cooled reactors, overheated and then began to partly melt down.

It was a Level 4 INES Scale event.

The 1980 accidentEdit

There was also some minor annealing that occurred in the graphite rods in a reactor, causing a brief heat excursion, but no melting.

It was a Level 4 INES Scale event.
