San Marco 1

The San Marco 1 satellite in checkout at Wallops Flight Facility. San Marco 1 was the first satellite launched by the Italian Space Agency. It was Italian-built, with NASA providing a launch vehicle (a Scout rocket), use of facilities, and training of Italian personnel. Author- NASA.

San Marco 1 was Italy's first satellite and was a massive boost to both Italian national moral and spirit.
