Overview[]
The planation it's self[]
They were large farms (500 to 1,000 acres) in the colonies of the Americas that used forced labour in the form of slaves to harvest cotton, rice, indigo, sugar, tobacco and other farm produce for trade and export.
Labour source[]
Masses of abducted Black Africans and thire decedents.
Labour rights[]
Slaves were expected to work as and when their owners and ‘overseers’ dictated with out question, had little rest and worked in shifts of up to 18 hours a day.
Punishment[]
It was not a crime to kill a slave per say on the island of Antigua until 1723. Whippings were normal, cruel and excessive punishment was commonplace, Black women were raped by White men in a lot of places and legally dubious executions of slaves happened on many occasions.
The CSA[]
One of the many (as sometimes valid) reasons for the Confederate States of America's session from the USA was the preservation of slavery and anti-Black racism.
Denial[]
A large segment of White British denied it ever took place, a large segment of White American say it was a good thing and some white French think the nation did not go as far as it actually did in the slave trade.
