The Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (Russian: Центра́льный комите́т Коммунисти́ческой па́ртии Сове́тского Сою́за – ЦК КПСС, Tsentralniy Komitet Kommunistitcheskoi Partii Sovetskogo Soyuza – TsK KPSS), which was often abbreviated in Russian as ЦК, "Tse-ka".
It was was the highest de jure body of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) between Party Congresses (the yearly gatering of all the party members). The members of the Central Committee were elected at the Party Congresses and organised all Party and government activities between each Party Congress.
